Illini are a 35% three point team and shot an absurd 55% last night on 29 attempts. Their assist ratio was down too. My concern if I'm an Illini fan is if several guys who have not been hitting shots all start chucking because of one game where everyone was feeling it. As a Purdue fan I'm also worried that maybe the team is just settling in and they are actually much better than a 35% team (which I think they could be). Overall, very impressive. But let's see if they can repeat.
I think to me it's a game that showed that Illinois has the highest ceiling out of all Big Ten teams. At the same time, it's hard to replicate ceiling performances consistently. It's obviously a good thing that this game happened for Illinois, but it'll be interesting if they turn it into more and more dominant performances or if it was more just Illinois' night
Yes, I agree with you on them having the highest ceiling. It was an incredible beat down on the road of a top 10 team after a super long trip after the holidays. If anything, its a game Illini could have laid an egg and we'd forgive them. But instead they put out a performance for the record books. Glad we only play them once at the end of the season!
